The USDA projects a 242 million acre harvest for top row crops nationwide (see below), and with harvest coming early for much of the Midwest, the phones in Climate Support have already starting ringing with harvest-related questions. The FieldView Support team talks with farmers every day, making sure they’re on the right track to get the insights they need from their farm data. It’s a critical time, and we know you want to be sure all systems are a go before you head into the field. With that in mind, I’d like to share more about our team’s know-how and some of the most frequently asked questions we receive this time of year.

The Climate Support Team: Who We Are

Nearly one-third of Climate employees have a farming background,* and we’re fortunate to have some of those colleagues on our 30-plus member support team. Based in St. Louis, our team’s central location makes it handy for us to get out into the fields across the Midwest to see firsthand how farmers are using Climate FieldView™ on their operations.

Common Harvest Questions We Hear From The Field

Last-minute preparations for the accelerated harvest are top of mind with almost all of the farmers I’ve spoken with recently. Our team is here to help make gathering and analyzing data as easy and successful as possible for you. From our years of experience at harvest time, our most common troubleshooting revolves around the following topics:

  1. FieldView™ Cab app Mapping One of the things farmers say they love most at harvest is the ability to see real-time data flowing into their FieldView accounts as it happens. If you are not getting an accurate in-cab view of what is happening in your fields with the FieldView maps on your iPad® device as you are combining, there are a number of settings you can double check to get back on track. Be sure to pay close attention to the “Maximum Header Height” setting in the Head Setup section, which indicates the highest position the head can be while harvesting the crop.
  2. FieldView™ Drive Compatibility -With expanded equipment compatibility, it’s easier than ever to bring data directly from your combine into FieldView. We frequently receive calls from farmers who are excited about the Drive and want to see if their equipment is compatible. Check out this compatibility guide to see if you can bring data from your machine directly into FieldView using the Drive.
  3. FieldView™ Drive Connectivity – In the rare case that you experience messages indicating your FieldView Drive is out of range, the iPad® device is disconnected from FieldView Cab app, or if the FieldView Drive is Bluetooth® connected but not connecting in Cab app, this means FieldView Drive is not transferring data to your iPad and it is imperative to correct any of these issues as soon as possible. Here are some solutions for getting you back up and running.
  4. Data inbox – You can’t analyze your yield by hybrid performance without planting data. With this year’s accelerated harvest, there’s no time to lose in uploading your planting data. Make sure you have completed this important step so you can get optimal results from your FieldView account. Don’t worry if you don’t have planting data to upload, it’s easy to manually create a planting layer in the FieldView Cab app as well!
Support team members are always ready to help you at harvest and throughout the year.
